Re: 2020 Fall Athletics Around the Country
Montana, Montana State, and Portland State have withdrawn themselves from spring football games. It sounds like they're going to do a "modified schedule" with the teams doing something like a "scrimmage" against each other after their regular spring practice schedule in April. Re: Southland/WAC shakeup
UCA to the Atlantic Sun is confirmed: https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2021/jan/14/uca-leave-southland-conference-join-atlantic-sun-c/ Apparently they also want to shoot for going FBS within ~3 years. Idk how likely that is though. Also an update to the Atlantic Sun/Big South situation. A-Sun foo...

Re: Southland/WAC shakeup
Scott, a couple things 1) Do you know does Grand Canyon have a football stadium to play in? are they building one? Just curious 2) Just your early thoughts - any plus or minuses for WIU with this news. Or for the MVFC? 1. GCU has an absolutely beautiful soccer stadium that holds ~6k fans: https://g...

Re: Southland/WAC shakeup
So, what we know now about the new WAC: most schools joining as of July 2021 (had originally planned July 2022, but the Southland decided to force them out early) Two divisions: Southwest (Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State, Lamar, Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, UT-Rio Grande Valley) and West ...

Re: Southland/WAC shakeup
And now I'm seeing a rumor saying UTRGV (U of Texas Rio Grande Valley) is looking to start up an FCS team with the goal of hitting the turf in the 2023 season. UTRGV is currently a non-football playing DI member of the WAC.

Re: Comparing 19/20 with 20/21
So far this season, we've played 6 "common" games: 1 each against UT Martin and EIU, and two games each against NDSU and SDSU. Over those 6 games last year, we put up an average of 63 points and allowed 84.83 points, with an average point differential of -21.83 and a record of 0-6. Over those 6 game...

Re: Southland/WAC shakeup
There's a strong rumor that Grand Canyon University (for-profit, private, christian university in Phoenix, AZ) will be announcing (possibly tomorrow coinciding with the WAC press conference) that they're starting an FCS-level football team to compete in the new football-playing WAC. https://twitter....
