SIU won the Championship in 1983 (Dec 17th in a route of Western Carolina), not 1984. Not sure about Indiana State's playoff history, but they were ranked #2 in 1984 when we beat them the final game of the season to finish 6-4-1...the only winning season between 1976 and 1986.
