The NEC added Chicago St because the NEC needed another full D1 member to stay compliant with NCAA regulations requiring a minimum number of full D1 members. The NEC had 3 transitioning schools who didn’t count as full members, and Chicago St was the only full D1 member willing to join.

SIUE ended up bypassing the play-in game and will get a straight ticket to the Round of 64.

They are one of the few schools in IL who hasn’t been hit hard in enrollment.

Matt Brown tweeted several D1 schools are considering dropping out this summer, mostly in the northeast. 

I’m confident we’re not in this wave. Hopefully we can make one NCAA Tournament at some point before a future wave hits us. 

Dumb question but you know I have more than my fair share. I cant seem to find out much about the namesakes of those old residence halls. George Seal comes to mind for Seal Hall but I might be wrong. What about all the others like Bennett, Hursh, Tanner, Wetzel, Henninger, ...

This is awesome. That station plays amazing music too. 

Bought a ticket on the EIU website. Visitors section is small and has its own side, while EIU fans will be on the side with the main grandstand. Does not look like you can cross from one side to the other.

1) Post-WWII baby boom (lots of kids wanting to go to college)
2) Vietnam War (lots of kids looking for a draft deferment)
3) A certain "party school" reputation coinciding with a lower drinking age for much of that time ...
