Re: New President

Two things are certain.

1) Jack wont be finding employment paying him more than 350K in the next 2 years.

2) Its Christmas in June with that clause letting him come back in 2 years and teach one course for 300K.

But maybe Jack will hit the lottery jackpot and let us off the hook.

Re: Tennis Program Turnaround?

Looks like the ladies are without coach now. MIRKO BJELICA seemed to have some success. His 2 daughters still listed on the roster. Not sure what his status is.

Re: Question on Family Day Game

Modern Woodmen Park, formerly John O'Donnell Stadium, did host high school football up until around 1990. After that, football was relocated to Brady Street Stadium where St. Ambrose U also calls it their home. Brady Street Stadium looks to be very similar to Hanson Field in terms of seating capacit...

Re: Question on Family Day Game

The administration needs to do something about attendance. (Across all athletics) I do think the starting point should be student associations. I’ve been to a lot of tailgating in my life, and WIU is the only one that barely has a Greek life present. Tie into homecoming an event with the most Greek...

Re: Question on Family Day Game

I have said for years that we need to have a couple of hoops games every year at the IWireless Now Taxslayer in Moline. I just wonder how a football game at Modern Woodmen would go over. I assume it could be converted into a football field layout. Sight lines would not be great but the picturesque v...

Re: Question on Family Day Game

Forgottonia Brewing tent in the endzone. Local food trucks (the ones that Forgottonia is having stop by their place) close by.

Update: I assume Forgottonia can take their brews on the road. May not be the case given their newness and/or Macomb beverage laws.

Re: 2020 State Budget

Rather than trying to cut our way out of the financial mess, as indicated by one of the speakers and reiterated by one of the Board members, we must GROW out way out. The financial mess is not a state funding issue, but a nearly 40% decline in enrollment since the peak in 2006 and one that is proje...

Re: 2020 State Budget

Our appropriation for FY 20 will be something like 2.5 million more than last year. Nowhere close to plugging a 20 million deficit. Rather than trying to cut our way out of the financial mess, as indicated by one of the speakers and reiterated by one of the Board members, we must GROW out way out. ...

Re: New President

Qualities of a new President? One who is realistic. Stabilize the enrollment and accept the fact that this may be as good as it gets, give or take a thousand here or there. Rebrand the university not as the place which offers something for everyone but instead places an emphasis on a traditional lib...
