Re: Welcome to Macomb Coach Davis!!
Western doesn’t have a DC yet? Joe Davis went into an FCS interview with Paul Bubb, alumni, and players. You would think he had a list of 3-5 potential coordinators. If not, you start to wonder how prepared he was and might be. Even then, he has had over three weeks to put staff in place, including ...

Re: New Coaches
New RB Coach has two years of coaching experience. TE Coach was an Offensive line GA at Ball State for a season. FBS graduate assistants don’t recruit off campus, so that’ll be new for someone with recruiting coordinator title. Now he’s coaching a position that appears he doesn’t have experience ...

Re: 2024 Recruits/Commitments
Defensive line depth and talent was lacking in a big way. That was relayed to me through many people who would have plenty of insight. Probably underperformed too by the way the line of scrimmage moved every play. Recruiting several transfer DL was the plan no matter what. I don’t think having an ...

Re: 2024 Recruits/Commitments
Curious to know what people think of today’s signees. Was it a success? Three of the five high school athletes were already committed. Looks like two were brought in by Coach Davis. Did the player from Geneseo have his offer pulled? Anyone know? Appears a couple transfers are coming as well, with ...
Re: Transfers
Some of these players are on their fourth position coach. Knock the players, but understand what happens when you play for a new coach every year as well. Sure, it’s only a small amount, but to overlook that aspect would be foolish. Without looking into it, I’m sure a few players have played for ...

Re: Head Coaching Search
At a large D2 the operation works similar to an FCS school. Larger staff, more budget, a separate strength coach. Scholarship structure that’s more similar. NCAA recruiting and other rules that differ from NAIA.

Re: Head Coaching Search
NAIA and D2 are different. The scholarships work different, as well as several other things. Hendrickson oversaw 2 full time coaches and two graduate assistants. All operations, video, and lifting were done by assistants. Of course he didn’t understand how that worked. That’s on the AD and the ...

Re: Head Coaching Search
We just had a HC with prior d2/naia HC experience. Did not work put very well. He also was as connected and passionate about the Macomb community as any candidate could be. We need an OC/QB guy that has had success at the FCS level. Midwest ties preferred. Someone who understand offensive football ...

Re: Head Coaching Search
Names should start to surface since WIU had a candidate on campus yesterday. Wonder if Western will follow tradition and go with an unproven but up and coming offensive play caller or go against the grain with a defensive coach. I say go against the grain only because Western has historically over ...

Re: Head Coaching Search
Coaching searches used to operate under patience. It’s not me that’s losing sleep. It’s the players, as I have been told. Several contemplating transferring or at least testing the waters of the portal. Remember, for them it’s already been two weeks. They want to know they’re in good hands.
