Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament

I think the closest likely location that we might have gone to was Ohio state or maybe Lexington KY. Both are further than 350 miles away, so it looks like we were flying no matter where we went.

Re: Wichita St leaving MVC?

To me, the logical course of action is to have the MVC include all sports and schools in both the MVC and MVFC. Would provide some great stability for all involved. MVC schools absolutely don't want that to happen. Sounds like if the Shockers take their leave, then there's a decent number who aren'...

Re: Wichita St leaving MVC?

There are rumors Wichita St will leave the MVC for the AAC. Wichita St is tried of not getting any respect in basketball so are supposedly looking to get into a better conference. If they do leave it will be interesting to see who MVC targets to replace them. One sportswriter I saw thinks the MVC s...

Coaching Changes

Different schools interpret the rules differently and weigh the potential ramifications differently. Illinois can afford a six-figure settlement to a lawsuit. We cannot. EDIT - also, staffing. Our office of equal opportunity and access is all of 3 people. Illinois has 15, plus people in the athletic...

Re: Coaching Changes

Grantham was fired in January by Louisville. I'm surprised it took this long for him to find a job. He was making $300,000 at Louisville. Was he fired due to poor performance, or was he just let go because their former DC (his brother) was hired away to Mississippi State and the new DC (who, incide...

Re: NCAA Nickname Bracket

We've made it through to the Elite Eight along with Fighting Camels, Fightin' Blue Hens, Blue Hose, Ragin' Cajuns, Mastadons (fellow Summit League member Fort Wayne), Golden Griffons, and our opponent this round, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Go vote for the Leathernecks as the best team nickname: ht...

Re: Coaching changes/Players leaving 2017

Just FYI, because of Coach Nielson, USD and SDSU can now offer multi-year deals up to 3 years for football and basketball head coaches, ADs, and University Presidents. I doubt USD stepped up to the tune of 350k/year, but they might have given him a really nice raise, maybe on-par with Nielson's $250...

Re: Coaching changes/Players leaving 2017

The South Dakota coach is the new Drake men's basketball coach. Not surprising, in USD's tournament game the announcers were talking about how he'd likely be moving "up" pretty soon. Just FYI, the "up" is in quotes because even though they spend more money on basketball than mos...

Re: Coaching Changes

Took long enough, but here it is: Leatherneck Football Adds Two Coaches to Defensive Staff Our new DC is Tony Grantham, who was most recently the LB coach at Louisville. His brother Todd, was the DC at Louisville and was just recently hired as the DC at Mississippi State. Also, Tony's wife is Molly ...
