Re: Where are they?
Personally, I'm in favor of shortening the work week/day. Just taking to 7 hour days could be a big difference for helping people feel more alive and have more time to do the things talked about in the initial post. Also a good idea too. Depending on the job, 7 hour work days, or 4 workday weeks...

To finally, after 2 years on the job, say we need to focus on financial stability and enrollment/retention tells you all you need to know at this President's leadership. And to make it worse, he says the lower end is where change is needed, not at the top. Here's to hoping BOLD at the September BOT ...

Re: Western BOT wants action now !
The 17:1 ratio was created by a former bean counter administrator who had no pedagogical expertise. It was not supported by research nor was it based upon what’s best for student learning. It was purely a fiscal calculation. It’s time for it to be revisited and retired. It was based on compara...

Re: Western BOT wants action now !
WIU strategic plan is for a student to faculty ratio of 17:1. We are currently at at 13:1 ratio. Since tenure protects full-time teachers, they need to be the ones teaching, not hiring adjuncts to do the job. WIU strategic plan ignores and we don't report student to administrator ratio. But I'm will...

Unfortunately, they don't provide the support the HOPE students need to be successful.sealhall74 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 9:00 am From what I read in the June 2022 blurb from WIU, they were expecting around 30 HOPE students. How many actually showed up for fall semester?

Bureaucratic nothing burger. Rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. I don't have the correct answers, but WIU needs transformational changes not this. It was more about getting rid of someone who was actively not listening to what the BOT was telling them needs to happen. If you listen to the m...

Re: Admin Re-Organization
Hell of lot more potential employers in the QC than Macomb is one reason I can think of. Much more convenient to reach out to them from QC. Yes, there are more employers to touch base with in the QC, but "Career Services" is there to help the students, not help the employers. When they...
