Re: Campus Improvements - Adams & Ward Corner area
I too question if this is the best use of the university's resources at this time. Wouldn't it make more sense to use that money for some of the deferred maintenance needs we keep hearing about? Also, how much property tax revenue will the city and school lose now that these parcels are owned by WIU...

Re: Tommy Bell Gone
Doesn't the position have to be posted first? That's what I recall about the last search. A posting, period of no information, and then announcement of finalists. What's taking so long??

Re: SIU AD Job Opening
Its understandable why Tommy would be interested in the other position and I certainly am not surprised that he's pursuing it. It makes sense for him to be interested and I don't begrudge him that at all. Honestly, I do hope he gets it because I have serious concerns about how effective his leadersh...

Re: Horizon/OVC
Tommy Bell squandered a perfect opportunity to cut tennis last year when there was a GA acting as interim coach. No one would have had to lose their job. Very short sighted, and now we have 2 tennis coaches. If student enrollment is declining, why shouldn't the number of sports supported also decline?

Re: Program cuts
The plan for IDT is to move it to an online format and integrate it with the master's program. That plan isn't really clear from the powerpoint, but IDT is listed on the reinvestment slide. The area of more controversy would seem to be the programs to be reviewed- 4 undergraduate majors and 1 gradua...

Re: Program cuts
VoiceOfReasonFan is correct. SIU, SIUE, ISU, UIC, and UIUC faculty are also unionized, though under different organizations than UPI. However, I think the UIUC union is for non-tenure track faculty. In general I would venture that most universities, with or without a faculty union, are resistant to ...
