Re: Program cuts

Actually, admission standards have been increased, and retention has increased- a 9% increase from fall 2013 to Fall 2014. A 9% increase in retention is very significant. Declining enrollment is not unique to WIU- most of Illinois' public universities have seen their enrollment decline over the past...

Re: Volleyball

Yes, this was all very oddly quiet. Letting April Hall go was the right decision but I don't understand why Tommy Bell never formally announced a change was being made. Poor communication on his part. Good luck to Coach Richardson as she tries to build this program!

Well, looks like this disappointing season was the end of April Hall's tenure at WIU.

Is this "Grade School Day" a new promo this year? I think it's a great concept and hope it continues.

Re: 11/8 WIU @ South Dakota

Apparently we got a defensive PAT for 2 points? I had to google it since I've never seen that happen. It's tied at 23 at the half.

Re: Macomb and Area Restaurants

What recently opened in the former Baja Burrito space on Adams Street? I saw an open sign and some WIU clothing hanging near the windows, but there's no sign indicating the type of business. I never got a chance to try Baja Burrito as their hours were really strange and they weren't around very long...

Re: special teams scrimmage

Geez, I figured there only room for improvement from last year's special teams. But, calling Coach Hendrickson in is about as likely as them calling me to the sidelines.

Re: Player Replica Jersey

Has your son asked the equipment manager about ordering an extra? Or maybe have him ask his position coach? Sometimes they can order an additional jersey that you can reimburse the athletic department for.

Re: What happened to David Beauchem, track coach

I too heard he was let go and also that few of the athletes were sad to see him go. Apparently, he still lives in Peoria and wasn't around much and didn't seem committed to the program. Perhaps it just wasn't a good fit for him and WIU. Best of luck to him in the future.
