Not sure if everyone is seeing this, but so far, the MVFC is having a GREAT weekend.

In addition to Western beating Drake, 38-13, you also have....

NDSU defeats Incarnate Word, 58-0
Illinois State defeats Eastern Illinois, 34-15
Indiana State defeats Ball State (FBS, MAC), 27-20
Missouri State shuts out North Dakota, 38-0
Southern Illinois defeats SE Missouri State, 50-23
Youngstown State defeats Butler, 44-13
South Dakota State beat Southern Utah, 26-6

Currently with about 7 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter, South Dakota is only down to a very good Montana team, 14-10.

Still to come is Northern Iowa at Hawaii (kickoff at 11 PM Central)...which, considering how good UNI is and how bad Hawaii is, could be a very winnable game if UNI is able to avoid all the distractions of a long flight and short vacation to Hawaii.

At this point, I think the biggest stories so far are ISUb (picked last in the conference in the preseason poll), taking down a FBS team, and ISUr (picked 6th in the conference in preseason poll) rolling over Eastern Illinois. If the MVFC is able to pick up any other wins (USD or UNI), those would also be pretty huge.

Kind of encouraging to see us at #24.
Embrace the pace of the race.

The new FCS rankings come out today at some point. I would expect us to remain getting around 10 votes and not increasing much at all. Lets see how the Indiana Miracle against Ball State moves them up in the rankings.

Looks like they have us winning approximately 2 more games the rest of the season. This would put us at exactly the same as last season. I expect at least one more win this season. There is no excuse to not be any better than last year with basically the same talent there only an improved understanding of the system and its execution. The team should be improved from last year, but we really will not know until conference play begins.

Good guess, looks like we got 8 votes.

Other MVFC teams:
#1 NDSU
#10 SDSU
#11 UNI
#16 SIU
#19 YSU

Others receiving votes:
ISUr - 171
ISUb - 51
MSU - 46
WIU - 8
USD - 2

So, every MVFC team got some top 25 votes.

Also, the AGS poll is even a bit more MVFC-friendly:

#1 NDSU
#8 SDSU
#10 UNI
#12 SIU
#15 YSU
#21 ISUr
#23 MSU
#25 ISUb

No votes for us or for USD.

Sounds about right, so with the jump that ISUb made for beating Ball State, then if we beat Northwestern I expect to be in Top 25 lol.

Well, yea....we go 3-1 with a win against a Big 10 team and our only loss being against a top 25 FBS team....we'd better be ranked at that point.
