Mavs put up two TDs on us today in a shutout 14-0 win. Four teams battling for two spots in tournament. For those teams, the tournament starts next weekend. Western is on the road against a hot IPFW team. The *DSUs will also have an interesting series in Fargo.
Standing going into final weekend:
Team Conf All
Oral Roberts 21-6 32-16
Omaha 16-11 26-24
South Dakota State 12-15 19-31
Fort Wayne 11-16 27-24

Not much to cheer for in Sunday's game. Omaha won 14-0 in a game that was stopped after the 8th inning because of the "Ten Run Rule".
Very disappointing on Senior Day.
Omaha had 18 hits. Western only had 3 hits and committed 4 errors.
Weather: 56 and sunny.
Attendance at Boyer Stadium = 114.
Western will end its home season on Tuesday with a 1PM game with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Western fans will remember last year's game when #24-ranked Iowa came into Macomb. Iowa jumped to a 5-0 lead. But Western did the rest of the scoring and won 16-5 in a game that was stopped via the Ten Run rule in the 8th inning.
Anyone with the afternoon off on Tuesday should plan on attending this final home game.
Western will need to win two out of the three games at IPFW to make the conference tournament.

After a quick look at the stats, way too many hitters are at the buck-something level. That puts a lot of pressure on the pitchers for sure.wiu bb 31 wrote:14-32 in year four of Coach Brownlee. We should be better. I don't understand how your carry 34 players on your roster. How about 23-24 guys who actually can play.

Anyone else notice Colton Pogue left the program. Looks like he's transferring to DII Pittsburg State in Kansas. Have some decent young INF like Thompson, Schrader and Galassi and a few veteran types like Tschida and Currier but still a tough loss. Kid had some decent pop and plenty of playing experience only being a sophomore.
From his twitter account looks like he's teaming up with a HS teammate there.

I did notice that. He had been a starter for most of this season: either 2B or DH. When I did not see his name in the Box Scores, I thought that maybe he was injured. But then I noticed that his name has been removed from the "Roster".letsgonecks wrote:Anyone else notice Colton Pogue left the program.
Western fans will remember that it was his grand slam homer in last year's game with Iowa in Macomb that invoked the Ten Run Rule in Western's 16-5 win over the #24 ranked Hawkeyes.
I heard at Sunday's game that he got mad about something and quit.
Just a guess here: I'm wondering if he tried to get his former teammate from high school on the Western team. His friend has been playing baseball at Blackhawk Community College for the last 2 seasons.
