Update...they've begun work on the new seating at Western Hall. Honestly, I have very little idea what it's going to end up looking like. I know that some people have been shown renderings of it, but I haven't had a chance to see them yet myself.

I am looking forward to seeing the finished product too. I do know that the entrance portals are once again going to be open on both the north and south sides. I did not get my "wish" for closed/bowled end zone seats though. The "Hall" will definitely be dressed up when this is completed. ;) jc

So happy about this. Much needed.

NFS71, my wish is that the student seating area becomes the best seats in the house, even if some long-time season ticket holders end up with second best seats. I am 99.99% sure it will not happen but it should IMO.

Former Western basketball coach Jim Kerwin's dream was to convert the lower portion of seating at Western Hall into a "bowl" similar to what Oakland University has at their O'rena:

The support poles in front of both balconies remains a deficit with no immediate remedy.

I agree with Seal Hall. With the amount of money that the students pay in "Athletic Fees", they should be getting the best seats in the house.

Glad to see something is happening. It will be disappointing if the lower portion is not reconfigured. It looks like what is happening is same configuration new seats. Hope I am wrong, but if that is all that is happening that is pretty underwhelming. Not unlike when Hanson Field got a cute little video board.

They've also got the new entryway cut out in the wall, allowing people to go in the front entryway and walk straight into the arena area without going around to the sides.

The wall openings between the bleachers are called "vomitory's!" I thought that couldn't be until I wiki'd the term and sure enough besides the term referring to "barffing" it also refers "exits" in theaters. Who would have thought! I was in the "Hall" on Monday to see the construction. No matter what the configuration, its going to look real "sweet!" MT is a real "facilities" guy. he gets it! You will not be disappointed! ;) jc
