Hi everybody, just a quick thing. In another post I mentioned that I'm going to start writing about MVFC football over on the FCS Wedge, a site that covers FCS football with articles previewing matchups, talking about games, and taking a look at other stuff going on in the FCS world. They also have a podcast if you're interested in that kind of stuff. If you want to read through the article where I talk about the upcoming games this weekend in the MVFC, you're welcome to do so here: http://thefcswedge.com/mvfc/mvfc-week-4-preview/

So, on to the games:
Illinois State at Indiana State, 2 PM on ESPN3
Missouri State @ K-State, 6:10 PM on K-STATEHD.net(paid)

NDSU, UNI, USD, SDSU, SIU, and YSU are all on bye this week.

Outside of the MVFC, but teams we play this year:
Austin Peay at Eastern Illinois, 1 PM on Ohio Valley Digital Network
Eastern Washington at Northern Arizona, 6 PM on Big Sky Streaming

The ISU battle will be close and MSU will get destroyed by K-State (see my above linked preview of the games). Out of conference, Eastern should blow out Austin Peay, but I'm interested in the result of EWU at NAU. EWU lost in OT to the Bison at the Fargodome, then went and beat Northern Iowa back on their home red turf. We all know how we played against NAU about two weeks ago, so it'll be interesting to see that matchup between NAU and EWU. I think EWU will likely win, but if we see NAU win, that could help boost our strength of schedule, making our win over NAU look that much better, as well as giving us an idea of how we might match up against teams like UNI and NDSU this season.

Ok, weekend over and outside of our own exciting "upset" win over Northern, here's what else was going on...

Illinois State fell to Indiana State, 34-31
Seriously, it seems like the Redbirds have completely fallen apart after their win at Northwestern...losses to Eastern and ISUb. Now they go to Fargo for the Bison Homecoming...that could get ugly.

Missouri State lost to Kansas State, 35-0 after 2 quarters of play. What happened to the other two quarters?...cancelled due to lightning.

For more insight into the MVFC matchups, my Week 4 in review article will be online at http://thefcswedge.com/ later this morning.

Games of interest outside the MVFC:
As expected, Eastern Illinois took down Austin Peay, 56-35 (honestly more points than I thought APU would get).
Northern Arizona lost at home to Eastern Washington, 50-35, in a game where Case Cookus had to leave in the second half with a shoulder injury. Haven't heard how serious and if he'll miss any games because of it.
