25% drop in enrollment, 11% graduation rate.. really, this is an example of a school that should be shut down and taken off the state funding. It has struggled for years with students and even scandals. Tax payer's are not getting any return on their investments at all.

As a member of the WAC and D-1 athletics, one would also believe out of this 86 new freshman, a sizable number are likely student athletes.

Should the state actually decide to shut CSU down, do you think they would phase it out over a several year period or would they just give a year or lesser notice and lock the doors ala ITT Tech?

I would say be merciful, make the decision before the end of fall semester, and shut it down the end of spring semester. Really, how can any one justify keeping it open? A financial drain like this should not be allowed to continue in this state, especially considering the fiscal problems and budget issues.
I believe that the Illinois Board of Higher Education has a protocol for when a college decides to close.sealhall74 wrote:Should the state actually decide to shut CSU down, do you think they would phase it out over a several year period or would they just give a year or lesser notice and lock the doors ala ITT Tech?
We saw this most recently when Benedictine University in Springfield decided in 2014 to shut down its traditional undergraduate program.
They worked jointly with the Illinois Board of Higher Education, to develop a "completion program" to ensure that junior and senior students earn their bachelor's degree in Springfield at the university where they began–Benedictine. They promised their current juniors and seniors that they would be able to graduate with a Benedictine University degree and would be able to complete their degree on the Springfield campus.

Kanye West's Debut album was entitled "The College Dropout"
Anybody know what college that might be referring to?

I think most people around where I live, central Illinois have never heard of Chicago State (or Northeastern, or Governors State)
If someone were to ask me about Chicago State (happens all the time) I can honestly only associate it in my mind with the previous crooked athletic program and a rather famous/infamous entertainer. When I first went to Western in the mid '90s I didn't even know it existed until I saw the name on a schedule for 'Necks Basketball

Alright, let's be totally honest here. Who got high at that Styx concert in Western Hall back in 1973? That would not have happened if Dennis DeYoung and friends had not got together at Chicago State (then called Chicago College) a few years prior.
