I am not sure you make that statement unless you know you are bailing. Interestingly, his counterpart over at EIU is predicting a 20% increase in freshman enrollment in the fall. Maybe Seth saw that their gain is essentially our loss. Things are so screwed up in the whole state. Just yesterday, I became aware that the Mitsubishi plant in Normal closed a couple of years back. That was a shocker for me.

An owner of some student-rentals told me last week that the Fall Freshman class could be in the 500 range. He is in frequent contact with the Admissions office. He has had to lower the rent just to get people into his units.

Western has a large senior class graduating this week. That will be replaced by a much smaller incoming freshman class. That will drive down the overall enrollment number.

Mitsubishi was in Normal 1988-2016.

The greedy and childish faculty (and their lying leader) have definitely shot WIU in the foot. Voting on a strike during prime recruiting season shows their narcissism. If EIU's enrollment indeed goes up while WIU's falls, we can put the blame squarely on the backs of our petulant faculty.

Eastern's jumped last Fall, too. Did we do anything to learn what they did?? Not likely. Plus, EIU's faculty almost immediately agreed to be part of the solution 3 years ago, rather than Western's who flatly stated it wasn't their concern and only the larger masses forced the WIU UPI leader to capitulate.

The medical school is in Springfield. Why not attach it to UIS?

Having the Med School would fall outside of UIS' Mission.

The Med School is a 4-year program. The first year is spent in Carbondale. The last three years are in Springfield.

Edwardsville already has a lot of health-related programs while UIS does not.
