The largest crowd for a Men's game this season was 522 vs Eastern Illinois on December 8.sealhall74 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 5:58 amI need to do some research to see if about 500 people qualifies as a Division 1 crowd.
I agree with wiu2013 that there were several times during Friday night's game when the Fight Song should have been played to keep the crowd engaged. But it was not.
There are no guy cheerleaders this year. So we do not have people yelling with the big megaphones. Small cheerleader squad as well. Usually only five or six at a game now. The Pom Squad is down to six people.
If the Pep Band is not at the game, the place is very quiet.
The Vet's Club group has been absent this year. The Army ROTC often would sit together as a larger group, but haven't seen them either.
For the previous few years, the PA announcer would say that standing for the Fight Song was a Western tradition. And the words to the Fight Song would appear on the video boards every time that the Fight Song was played.
Neither of those events are happening this year.
Seems like our game-day atmosphere has taken a step backwards.

Ken Massey Projected Standings
South Dakota State 15-1
Omaha 12-4
Purdue Fort Wayne 11-5
North Dakota State 9-7
South Dakota 7-9
North Dakota 5-11
Oral Roberts 5-11
Western Illinois 5-11
Denver 3-13
My take on this is that the ORU game at home will be the critical one. It will be a must win game IMHO. A win over the Golden Eagles would even the series agasint them and secure the tiebreaker over them via our win over PFW earlier in the season. You absolutely do not want to be sitting at #8 going into the tournament. We have a very talented team and have a decent chance of of knocking off anyone except SDSU on a neutral court.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Taking down the Jacks is doable but you have to bring your A+ game and they have to be playing about B-.

An announcer during the Purdue vs. Minnesota game yesterday, summed up our team exactly as he was talking about the Minnesota team. "The team is about one player and a whole lot of belief in themselves away from being really good." This team can be really good, but they quickly get "in their heads" and down on themselves.sealhall74 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:02 amsealhall74 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 6:58 amKen Massey Projected Standings
