Missouri St coaching situation
It doesn't really surprise me that they fired him, although the timing does. You'd expect they would have announced it within a few days of the end of the regular season.
Coach Steckel was 13-42 in his 5 years there, a .236 record (on the other end of the conference spectrum, NDSU has more than 13 wins this season).

The article I read sounded like they were bringing him back and something changed and they decided to get rid of him. So not sure what happened that made the AD change their mindST_Lawson wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2020 6:33 pmIt doesn't really surprise me that they fired him, although the timing does. Someone on AnyGivenSaturday was speculating that there might have been a stipulation in the contract that his buyout would be less if he was fired after 1/1/2020 or something. Or maybe they just changed their minds.meganeck wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2020 5:50 pm The article I read sounded like they were bringing him back and something changed and they decided to get rid of him. Risky hire, but ok. If he gets any success, I think he's gone, but if it brings MSU a couple of years of halfway decent football, then it might be worth it.

Yeah I doubt he is there longer than 2 or 3 years.ST_Lawson wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2020 8:45 amRisky hire, but ok. If he gets any success, I think he's gone, but if it brings MSU a couple of years of halfway decent football, then it might be worth it.

Selling your soul to win a few more games is not worth it.meganeck wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:47 pm As of 10:30 tonight - there are conflicting reports. One report has Missouri St hiring Bobby Petrino & another says they are hiring Art Briles.
Would you be fine if WIU hired either of these 2 to be the next football coach at Western?

On the other hand, according to Oscar Wilde:
The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
They got a mention in a top 10 Twitter trend. That would not have happened without Petrino.
