Coach Shields is very intriguing.  I like his experience as both a HC at the FCS level and a Coordinator at the FBS level.  He's also currently an Analyst at UNLV, which frees him up sooner for interviewing and also selecting a staff.  So far, this is my vote!

Coach Ward is probably in second place for me.  I love his connections in the state for recruiting, but HC would be a large jump for him.  He has good experience, but nothing above position Coach.  Passing game Coordinator is a fancy title, but it's a position coach.

The Coach from Alcorn doesn't even perk my interest.  His experience is basically all JUCO.

It's encouraging to see that quality candidates are interested in us!  Going to be fun to follow the search...

If he brings us some Triple Option like at Army, bring him on.  Cannot win the Valley without kicking ass in the running game on both sides of the ball.
Embrace the pace of the race.

So your source wants the job bad?

No…my source is the RB coach at Kansas State.  He also played and coached at WIU.

Not sure how highly he thinks of WIU with the way he went out remember Tanney was out of town when Bon left and our amazing provost at that time decided he was going to give him the job until Matt got back and overturned that decision.

Tyler Yelk, Hmmmm, definitely thought provoking. Be interesting to see him clash with Nielson. "Now the student has become the master".

Maybe I'm not understanding this, but I thought Leatherneck57 was posting people who had shown interest in the position. If that's right, apparently Yelk would be willing to give Western another shot. I do remember the team at the time was pretty vocal in wanting him as coach.

When I saw that name I thought maybe he was the one who it looked like was getting the job, also didn't a lot of the players supposedly want him to get the job at the time.
