Saw some posts about how the team has poor grades and rumored we might be on academic probation.

Anyone have an update?

Mandatory weekly study hall (3 hours on Sunday afternoon) for the entire team, but I was told it is based on a 4 year cumulative standard and is the result of previous regime bringing in 1-year transfers that never attended class.

Live by the portal, die by the portal.  We not on the Wiki list yet but 2 other MVFC schools are, although not for football.  Geez, how embarrassing is it for the College of St. Scholastica to be there?

The APR is calculated as follows:
  • Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
  • A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate.
  • In addition to a team’s current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.
Teams must earn a four-year average APR of 930 to compete in championships. While the APR is intended as an incentive-based approach, it does come with a progression of penalties for teams that under-perform academically over time. The first penalty level limits teams to 16 hours of athletics activities per week over five days (as opposed to 20 over six days), with the lost four hours to be replaced with academic activities. A second level adds additional athletics activities and competition reductions, either in the traditional or non-championships season, to the first level penalties.

I’m sure this will negatively impact recruiting efforts even more.

"Each student-athlete receiving athleticaly related financial aid ..."   Would that apply to about everyone on the roster because you can give out partial scholarships at FCS?  IMHO, 100+ football players is too many to worry about in these dire times.  I would cut the roster size down to 63 or maybe up to 75 for a few dedicated walkons until we can get the ship sailing full speed ahead once again.  Advertise that as a positive, kids will get FULL rides along with more personal attention in the weight room and academic support areas. Plus, the kid will probably see action on the playing field a hell of a lot sooner if they have the "right stuff".  Will you need to make some adjustments to practices to minimize risk of injury because less depth?  Absolutely.
