I don't know, location might be an issue. Too close the highway? Too close to campus? Too close to the woods?
There's a facility on the edge of town that the fire department uses. I wonder if they allow Fire Science students to study some of the stuff out there.
It's out kinda towards the Bower plant (here: https://goo.gl/maps/kPKl9) if you're curious. The aerial shot doesn't show it, but usually there's stacks of old shipping containers that they use in different configurations for rooms and "floors".
Updates to improvements around campus

Seal, i think the cinema is a brick facade with a trussed roof. The only thing you could do in that situation is pour water on it from the perimeter. Too dangerous to do any thing inside. Scrap metal has got to be worth something!

That and the cost of doing business from the Chicago suburbs ain't cheap.WIU0812 wrote:I am sure the scrap metal is why bids came in at 36000 instead of 70,000
Embrace the pace of the race.

I'll do what I can. That photo was posted to facebook by a guy I know who's a band alum and is the general manager at WIUM/WIUW (the local NPR station), which is located in the old Hy-Vee building right next to the old Cinema.WIU0812 wrote:Thanks for the updates you definitely help keep us not in town in the loop! Hope to see few more as the Demo continues.
Also, just fyi, I think a while ago I mentioned that they were putting up new lighting poles along Murray Street in front of the Union (the new ones with the posts for the little purple block-W flags). They're supposed to start taking down the old light poles today and take roughly a week or so.
