I received this information from WIU's Director of Government and Public Relations (he's our liason with the Illinois legislature)...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WIU Advocate,

Western Illinois University is proud to support the Public Higher Education Equitable Funding Formula legislation - Senate Bill 13 and House Bill 1581. SB 13 and HB 1581 would revolutionize how public higher education institutions are funded throughout the state and significantly increase state allocated operational funding for WIU. The latest data shows that WIU is the least equitable funded university in Illinois.

I ask that you join me in filing a witness slip in support of the bill on behalf of WIU. Let your voice be heard in support of greater funding for WIU.

To file a witness slip, please fill out and submit this form. Fill out the information requested. Select SB 13 in the "Subject Matter" dropdown. In the "Representation" box, please put Western Illinois University. Next, click the "Proponent" box and click "Record of Appearance Only" in the box near the bottom of the form. Witness slips may be submitted until the hearing begins at 3pm on Wednesday, April 30. I encourage you to share this request with your colleagues and other WIU supporters you know.

Thank you for your efforts and advocacy on behalf of Western Illinois University. Please let me know if you have any questions.

who is in charge of PR and marketing for WIU?  Why would you agree to provide info for this article and have VP quote in there?  It seems like WIU can't get out of it's own way. I'm sure the athletic department and all coaches cringe when they see this. ABSOLUTELY DUMB.

The battle between the "system" and the players outside of the system rages on.  Until that problem is solved, the overall public university funding problems cannot be solved.  I would a put a referendum on the ballot to have all Illinois public universities covered by one and only one umbrella system.  See where the voters stand.
Embrace the pace of the race.
