I see Kennedy tweeted she was offered by WIU, I would love to see her as a Leatherneck but afraid some bigger schools will eventually come after. Might have to get a NIL deal together for her lol

Figured it was coming but I see Kennedy has tweeted that Oakland and DePaul have both offered her within the past week or so.

I don't think Oakland is any more attractive than we are, from a basketball perspective. Their last season over .500 was 2016-17, and the Horizon League (at least this last year) was ranked slightly lower than the OVC for women's basketball (22nd vs the OVC's 21st as ranked by Warren Nolan).

DePaul has had similar "success", with their last winning season being 2021-22. They do play in the much tougher Big East conference (currently ranked the 5th toughest women's basketball conference by Warren Nolan), including annual matchups with UConn.

In terms of NIL money, DePaul can probably steamroll us. Oakland might be a little better than us, but probably not by a huge amount.
Another aspect is whether she wants to be in an urban/city environment (DePaul in Chicago), suburban (Oakland in the northern suburbs of Detroit), or a rural environment (Macomb).

I don't know how the other schools would rank for playing time, but she'd probably get a decent amount at Western, given we lost nearly all of our experienced players after last year due to mostly graduation.

Kennedy add anothe offer, this one from Morehead St. Yeah Oakland or Morehead St for that matter I don't think is much better than WIU, it was the DePaul offer that has me worried.

Kennedy committed to Depaul. I feel sorry for JD and the coaching staff, they put so much time and effort to recruit her the past couple seasons, then to see DePaul come in with a recent offer and get her to commit. I'm kinda surprised she didn't wait and see if more offers came her way before committing.

IMHO, a "verbal only" commit does exactly that.  It immediately puts you on the radar of other programs at the same level or even higher.

Embrace the pace of the race.
