Sad to see that the Old Stompin' Ground Runaround is apparently no longer a thing.  I don't run much these days but could walk it.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Yeah, apparently for a couple years at least. I hadn't been able to do it for a while with the band alumni stuff I do, but last time it was run, I don't remember there being that many people. Maybe 40ish? Not really enough to make it worth it.

Is it like everything else? The people that organized it are getting older and nobody new wants to take on the project? (I have no clue who has sponsored it in the past, but it seems the same thing is happening with all kinds of groups/events)

Probably more that the people that organized it have retired/left/were let go and the positions have not been replaced. With all the other things going on during Homecoming weekend, they probably decided it wasn't a priority and not worth the trouble.

I looked at past articles, and it said it was the alumni that put it on, so the "let go" shouldn't play into it.

The Alumni House/Alumni Relations put it on. Here is the current list of their employees: https://directory.wiu.edu/facultystaff/ ... Relations/

I miss the PACE for the beer garden, the RITZ for happy hour and fish bowls and PARKSIDE for karaoke, BOOTLEGGERS for the martinis, the CAFÉ and DOWNSTAIRS for the Quaaludes and the DOG POUND for finals week.  Also very nostalgic for the Wheeler St Block Party.  Neck Up!
