Looks like the game will be available via First Row Sports for those fans who don't have access to ESPN3:

Looks like a change or two on the horizon for this one. Difficult to win with a pure pocket passer in the MVFC. IMO, that is mostly because there are not a lot of speed burner receivers in the MVFC who can get separation (the speedy guys are playing up one level). In fact, most Valley teams are blessed to have but one guy with above average speed. Looks like SDSU made that transition to a running QB during the year. We will see what Coach N has in mind shortly.

Is Norvell sick, or has something been going on for a bit (like an injury)?

I can't say for sure but I do think Norvell is dinged up a bit. Saw a point during YSU game when he shied away from an obvious blocking situation. That and he has not run the ball quite as much as usual (which is not a lot). Coach N said something in Coach's Show to the effect of "We really had to take a look at how we were doing things the last couple of weeks".

He has appendicitis. I'm not a doctor, but the internet says standard recovery time is 4-6 weeks. I'd have to imagine that we'll see McGuire for the rest of the season and then Norvell back next year.

For guys in the know, does the backup QB usually do the scout team duties or does he take snaps with the first team?

Holy crap!!! Wishing him a full and speedy recovery!

I just thought if it was an injury, it might explain his horrible last couple of weeks. Not sure if appendicitis does that or if it comes on suddenly. Thank heaven I've never had to find out.

Backup gets 1/3 to 1/2 snaps with the 1st team.
