Mo didn't need to sub 'cause the game was so deliberately slow, no one was even close to being winded.
And I may have just snorted my coffee. Thanks for the laugh!

To be honest though, I think that Coach Mo's "super-slow with an extra side of defense" strategy did keep us competitive in games where we might otherwise not have been in. Sure we may have only been able to score 50-60 in a game, but if most of the time we hold the opponent to 40-50, then we'll still win a lot of them (like in 12/13). I don't think I'll ever forget that home-and-home with Savannah State that year, where neither team, both games, ever reached 40 points.

But yea, it means not much playing time for your bench, and when you do end up needing them, they don't have the experience to be able to handle things. For example, in each of those two games with Savannah State, you had 8 players getting playing time. In our game at Wisconsin, you had 9 players getting playing time. In the game against Hannibal-LaGrange, 16 players got on the floor (the entire listed team roster), and it wasn't even one of those "30 seconds left, throw in anyone else you got" things...we were up by enough that the least time anyone had was 3 minutes...and everyone had a chance to shoot a ball or two or make a rebound at the very least.

Lest we never forget that back in 12/13 when TP went down, we had no one ready to step in and fill his shoes. Yet the guy that did attempt to fill his shoes that year upped his game big time over the following summer and went on to play pro ball in Europe.
Embrace the pace of the race.
