I think players would play for other assistants but dont think they would feel comfortable with Blazek as the HC. i think they will tolerate him in roll he currently holds. I agree it is short notice to get a outside HC but with some quick moves it might be possible. i hope whoever they get i hope they put in some more offense to complement the talent we have. This team is close to a great future if right moves are made but with financial issues we face they may not happen. i know recruiting is important but finding right person to me is more important. We have lot of young talent but i also understand we need more coming in every year.

Appreciate that information, fanoutback.

Not knowing the coaches and players well, I for one am just trying to think of trying to make this as painless as possible. What with the state's budget problems and all the university powers that be need to come up with something that will reassure the team and fans that things are not going to evolve into chaos with a change in team management.

Maybe I'm wrong to look at promoting from inside - like I said, I don't know the players or coaches. What I do know is that it's going to be tough to come up with a big money contract to dangle in front of prospective coaches.

I'm in shock Dr. Biller and the Athletic Department can make a coaching hire so fast. It's almost like Christmas, can't wait till 11am to come so we can hear the coaching announcement. If it's somebody that's currently on staff I'm guessing it's Bradley, Blazek, or Mohanson. If it's one of those 3 I can see the other two staying, and we probably keep Watson and the wide receiver coach.

The coaches who I bet are gone are Ted, Yelk, and Crutchley.

If they hire someone from the outside no way any of them stay.

Teasing...this board is beside itself...we need some sort of perspective and outside thinking......

I Love Western, might live there if the reneged PAC had not hapend....(my wife likes theater) I have been talking about that to her for 3 years .......I know (in her eyes)I look more foolish than ever...she is a SEMO grad. BTW SEMO is florishing.....yeah I get it they are leting in people that wouldn't qualify at WESTERN but they are solevent.

The players are tweeting lots of positive things. Young adults are more resilient than older adults. Getting a coach in place ASAP (presumedly from within) will keep the current flow and positive energy going. Other adjustments can be made as needed later. Right now we need to keep the Leatherneck Strong mentality moving forward so we can keep and get more recruits.

i dont think i am ready Rocki!!!! I love the Leathernecks also has been great to see the improvements last couple of years. We just need to keep it going next year. Not sure we need to make this decision this quick. Few more days isnt going to hurt much just to see if there is any interest out there.

They could just announce an interm coach to lead recruiting until a full search is done. If so Yelk, Crutchly, or Blaz.

Disagree... with the interm.... maybe ... let a Young Man own a team ...get energized work 80 hours a week ....if he has the potential.

if not then he never should have talken the helm to start with.

Nielson was a Satbalizing factor.....presented a senses of calm in the face of adversity.

I know very little about football besides my High school days .......

Good people rise to the occasion if given the chance...(WWII was won on the backs of Sgts. that acted as Generals)

Feeling a lot beter that USD wants to pay an exorbitant amont of money to be us. Wow, I'm blushing :P
