I'm sure he is a good fellow, however, this would be very disappointing. He just doesn't have the experience to be a head coach in the MVFC. It shouldn't be an on the job training opportunity. However, looking at the finances etc, and who Butthead is likely taking with him, this might be the only answer.
This would tell us a lot about Western's commitment to football, and how much they can afford to compete at the top level.
Who do you want to see as a new HC?

Leather face, I think it has more to do with the current financial climate than commitment to football.

A bit of both would be my guess.rocki wrote:Maybe not.
So, would the budget problems be the reason for no national search or would it be more the time element (didn't want to spill anything during the playoff run, but wanted to try and keep the team from bolting while waiting for a search to be conducted)?
We don't have the money to be conducting a national search, and honestly, people are already pretty upset with things right now involving the faculty layoffs. If we spent the equivalent of a faculty member's entire year's salary, you would have a huge group of people protesting in front of Sherman Hall and a TON of bad press. Now is pretty much the absolute worst time to be spending money on something that a large part of campus considers to be "expendable". I've seen people already calling for not replacing Nielson to save money...and yes, I know how dumb of an idea that is to not have a HC at all...but the point is, that's what a lot of people think when they see a coach making $200k+.
Also, promoting quickly from within helps keep recruiting consistent and helps the current players have some idea of expectations.

If all the team captains are tweeting like that, it is an even better thing.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Will there be a feed available for the 11am press conference announcing the new HC?
I don't know offhand. I know yesterday's was live on Periscope as broadcast by a guy from the Courier. I'll post a link here if I see anything about it.Tere North wrote:Will there be a feed available for the 11am press conference announcing the new HC?
