That might put some government money in our pockets. I think that would be a huge draw but I do understand the proximity of Illinois, NIU, Northwestern etc...

LOL Who do you think we are - Notre Dame? What flavor Kool-Aid are you on tonight? I took your posts pretty seriously until this one. Now I am starting to wonder ...
Well, if you look at schedules, this year Air Force played Morgan State, Army played Fordham, and Navy played Colgate.
In the previous 5 years before this year, FCS opponents:
AF - Northwestern State, South Dakota, Tennessee State, Colgate, Nicholls State
Army - VMI, Fordham, Stony Brook, Morgan State, Yale, Fordham
Navy - Georgia Southern (when they were FCS), Delaware, VMI, Delaware (again), VMI (again)
So, they do play games against FCS schools...usually one a year, like most FBS teams do. I don't know about the whole "neutral field" idea...that'd be a tough sell for them, but I wouldn't have a problem with playing at any of the Academies down the road (and Army hasn't been very good lately, we might even beat them...they're 4-3 against FCS teams since 2010).
And Seal...a game at Navy would be right in your neck of the woods, wouldn't it?

I was really hoping in the Patterson era that he'd get us a game against Army since he was a West Point grad. But wow, by all means, I'd love us to play any of them, and would actually relish being able to play on their home field. What a privilege!
Leatherneck57 -- I love your enthusiasm, and as I've stated before, my support remains steadfast. The cynical side of me, though, says "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?" The West Side has been crumbling for years, the University's endowment has been a joke for even longer, the Leatherneck Club has been a bottom dweller in comparison with our peer institutions for year, and yet now that we lose the best coach and best AD we've had in a long time, now's the time to get involved!? Better late than never I suppose, but I just hope the boosters and football alumni you know have a real game plan with real $$$ to get done what you're saying. Looking forward to your updates, with milestones and $$$!!!
To add some perspective, I thought the west side seemed old and antiquated when I was at Western from 1969-1974 as compared to other stadiums I traveled to on the "away" schedule during that era such as Northern Illinois, Akron and Illinois State. Akron played in the Rubber Bowl then.
