Interesting read from Seal on MVC team rushing the ball. I was surprised to see UNI was 15th this year. Farley brought in five new coaches this year. He has a reputation for being difficult to work for..his new OC put in the spread for the first time. When we beat them this year their leading rushers were the two QBs. The starter only played the first half and went out with concussion issues. The second half QB Bailey ended up being the starter the rest of the year. After our game the fine tooled their run game and had great results.

I know former Iowa State QB coach and OC when Mark Mangino was fired this year Todd Sturdy is interested in the job. He applied before Christmas but obviously hasn't made the cut so far. Todd is a Tipton, IA native, played and was HC at St. Ambrose. Was an asst at Eastern Washington when Todd Wolf was building that program then followed Wolf to Washington St. He came to Iowa State when Wolf was fired and WSU brought in "The Pirate." He has lots of connections in the Quad Cities and with high school coaches in Iowa plus he recruited CA for IA State using the connections he had from his days at EWU and WSU. He would be worthy of a serious look. I believe he is in his late '40's

I was wondering this also

Also Former WIU assistant Jason Eck was on the staff at Montana St, as the OL coach. So I wonder if Ash is hired if he would come back.
Coach Ash mentioned a few people that are committed to come with him and Eck was one of them.

Ben Marth from WGEM had some interesting tweets about Ash's forum. He summed things up saying Ash would be the safe choice with Fisher more of a gamble. - which I think is fair.

I did not get to go to the forum for coach Fisher yesterday but i went to the one today for coach Ash he sounds like a safe choice sounds like he already has some coaches committed to him i asked him a lot of question's and he was willing to answer them all but it seemed clear that coach fisher is the fans choice to be the next head coach.

That's the impression that I got as well from people were at both sessions. Ash seems like a good guy, has had a great deal of success on the offensive side of the ball, but has had some issues getting defense in line though. He didn't say it in the session, but he is also on the short list (of about 7 guys currently) that are up for the Southern Utah job vacated by Ed Lamb who moved up to assistant HC at BYU.

It sounds like Fischer has a bit more "fire" or "drive" which would be nice, but I think either coach would be ok.

Will be interesting to here more comments about Ash's forum. His defenses the last two yrs were not good, but in 2012 and 2013 Montana State had back to back Buck Buchanan Award winners(most outstanding defensive player in FCS).

I think his defenses the last 2 yrs fell victim to graduating some really good linebackers and DE's and not being able to replace them with capable underclassman.

Jason Eck would be great to bring back to WIU. Deprato is also a great special teams coach. There are a couple others that I am sure that are committed to coming with him.

Both WGEM and KHQA had mentioned in their reporting that the candidates "were not made available to the media".

Is that our normal procedure ??

There was no story in today's Macomb newspaper about Charlie Fisher's campus visit.

If it's like all the other search committees, the search committee will make recommendations on whether they feel either is acceptable. Typically they don't get to rank the candidates, but even if they do, they will not be making the final choice. That would normally be up to the AD as the head of the department. Even though there was no announcement of Taney being officially named AD after his interview, I suspect he will still be making the decision since he was who pulled the committee together, not Biller. Biller seems to be completely uninvolved in the head FB coach process.

For interviewing of candidates, yes, for any department up to and including the President. When the announcement of who was hired and that person is introduced, then there will be a press Q&A.
