WIU - Week 8 & 9

So, I wasn't able to get the women's basketball post up for last week's games...sorry.

Western took on Oral Roberts at Western Hall on January 1st, winning 72-61. Then on the 3rd, headed out to Omaha, losing 79-66.

Up this week/weekend are two games...one away and one home.


Thursday, January 7th at Fort Wayne, 6 PM tipoff

Saturday, January 9th vs IUPUI, 4:40 PM tipoff (following 2 PM men's game)
IUPUI is 10-5 overall, 1-1 in the conference. D1 wins over Marquette, VCU, Indiana State, Stephen F. Austin, SIUE, Belmont, and Evansville. In-conference, they have a 69-50 win over Fort Wayne and 52-47 loss to Oral Roberts. Full schedule here: http://www.iupuijags.com/schedule.aspx?path=wbball

Both games are winnable if they play well. IPFW is not a great team, IUPUI is a much better team, but in terms of common opponents, seem fairly even with us. Plus that game will be here at Western Hall, right after a men's game, so hopefully a decent number of people stick around after the men's game to see the women play.

Western beats IPFW 78-74.

Michelle Maher led the Western scoring with 23 points. Emily Clemens had 22. Sophie Reichelt had 20.

Attendance at IPFW was 498.

IUPUI won Saturday's game 68-60.

Emily Clemens and Sophie Reichelt each had 12 points. Taylor McClintock and Taylor Higginbotham each had 10.

Western was 5 for 20 (25%) on three-point shots. IUPUI was 8 for 12 (67%) on three-point shots.

Attendance at Western Hall was 405.
