Yes...when asked how long it would take to put together a staff he mentioned he did some preliminary work prior to coming to Macomb. He had texts from about 70 potential coaching candidates and 3 really good OC's that he would sit down with. He will put together a good staff once they get everything worked out.

Thankfully Taney was in charge of this and got it done. Biller was in charge of the AD interview, and even though it was considered a done deal, still 2 weeks later, Taney is still listed as interim. Only good news is no news out of Biller after his FB HC press fiasco.
Anyone know who is the person who is charge of Affirmatiive Action on campus? Talked to Tyler Yelk this afternoon. He had a handshake agreement on the Monday Bob announced he was leaving. WIU wanted to hire him at significantly less than Bob. Tyler countered. Still would have made him the lowest paid coach in the conference. Jackie Thomas wasn't on campus but approved the salary. Paperwork/contract would be signed Tuesday morning, presser at 11:00. That night Tyler talked to former players in Macomb and Chicago. Tyler told me all but two of the assts would have stayed. AJ wanted to move up.As mentioned on this site members of his family made the trip to Macomb for the presser. Minutes before Biller calls Tyler into a room and tells him he's got bad news. Person in charge of Affirmative Action says AA must be followed and a national search must take place. Obviously a mess and embarassment to WIU. But it's water under the bridge. We have a new coach and we need to get behind him now! Tyler told me Bob told his SD staff DO NOT contact any WIU recruits. Tyler said they didn't have to...recruits are calling them..which is to be expected. I hope the new coach hires a staff that had Midwestern, specifically Chicago roots and hits the ground running. Once A Leatherneck ALWAYS A Leatherneck!

If if was the AA person, that would be Andrea Henderson at AD-Henderson@wiu.edu or call (309)298-1977. However, if the AA person was right that it needed to be a national search, an easy solution would have been an interim title with agreement for it to become full after 6 months, e.g., before the 2016 season started. That has become the MO at Western for most all high level positions anyway. Sorry, still blame Biller.LeatherCy wrote:Anyone know who is the person who is charge of Affirmative Action on campus? None the less, I agree, that is now water under the bridge and we are ready to move forward.

Just incase anyone cared; Ash did not get the Southern Utah job. They promoted D Coordinator Demario Warren.
