Bad news is I won't be in the house to see it or the Wisconsin BB game next week (back spasms better but still there). Good news is I bought the travel insurance for this trip and I hardly ever do that.

FYI, it is not cheap to take these charters but you really don't have any choice if you want to compete. If you bus it, you would probably need to leave on Thursday and give them a day to recover from buslag. Below is an estimate for this trip to Fargo.

Yea, it's a 10 hour drive from Macomb to Fargo. As you said, they'd have to leave probably Thursday morning and attempt to get a good night's sleep in the hotel on Thursday night. And coming back would be all day Sunday. I've done long stretches on a charter bus before...having to do that twice with a football game in between would not be a fun experience for anyone. What's the limit for taking a bus to an away game...5...6 hours? I assume we'd bus to the ISUs, Southern, UNI, maybe MSU (that's about 5 1/4 hours), and fly to games at YSU and the Dakotas.
The South Dakotas schools are right on the edge of whether it makes sense to bus or fly because after hitting ground somewhere (Sioux Falls I assume), you still have a couple hours of bus time ahead of you plus the couple of hours to get to Moline in the first place. NDSU is really fortunate to have that airport literally right across the street from their campus.

We're a pretty conservative team and that's not always a bad thing, but if we're conservative and hope their players or coaches make more mistakes we'll have no chance. I'm sure there's been some stuff offensively and defensively we've practices, but haven't used because we're more comfortable with what we've been running. The time is now to bust it out as their preparation to stop our same old same old will be at a higher level than what we feel works best for us. Even if we exhaust everything in our book and have nothing left for the following 2 weeks, we need this one more.
Let's move some people around on offense. Let's run some rubs and hell lets straight-up pick and make the refs make the call. Misdirection and setup some trickery.....a little taste back to them on what beat us last year with their half back pass to the Wentz. We've seen one pass from Smith, but have 2 other WR that were HS Qb's in Williams and Acklin. Tried one onces last year with Acklin, but there was a pentalty on the play. Flee flicker? Most teams don't stay home for Norvel after the give, so toss it back out as he's moving to the right for some space.
Defense needs to bring no stop pressure on blitzes and rotate at all levels to keep bodies fresh, we have some depth to do so. No delayed blitzes as they've been picked up or read early and gives them easy reads in our soft coverage. Get up on the line bring six, forces them to go one on one and someone beat the TE or RB picking up. Force the young QB to run sooner than he should or force a pass. He's athletic and will likely rack up yards running against us anyways, so force him with pressure. Get the corners up tight early and see what he's capable of. Wentz would probably find the mismatch and beat us all day, but who knows about this guy. Let's find out!!!!!
Have it be up to us.....this young athletic QB either has the game of his life or worst game of his life.
We still have a good chance to lose being super aggressive, but feel 100% we'll lose being the same old same old. Save that for ISUb.
Can't pick us to lose, so WIU 24 - NDSU 14 (if we're aggressive......and it works)
I agree with everything EXCEPT the time to bring out the new stuff was really 2 games ago. Actually, I don't even like that strategy. I think you run it all (except for maybe your best gadget plays) from the get-go so when you do need it at crunch time, it is all second nature and you are confident it will work.

sorry , deer hunting week, swamped.
Seahall you aint coming?
Bisonville is run by a guy in new York, so you never know whos getting approved or what.
As we get closer to gametime, im seeing a lot of NDSU fans wondering if WIU will put 8-9 guys in the box for an all out stop of our rushing? Its a good idea, but our new QB hasn't even had the opportunity to wing the ball around as last 2 games we were ahead the whole time and his 1 77 yard TD pass was a slant basically to the house.
PS Direct Tv Channel 795 on college sports extra will be carrying the game if you hit up a sports bar you should see it.

Game plan on defense is dusted off from last year. Shut down the run and make them one dimensional. They will be expecting to pound the rock even more now that Wentz no longer needs to be showcased to the NFL scouts. Pick and choose your times carefully for when to come with the blitz but definitely come with it. Don't play it safe. Also don't let Stick find the seams against zone looks. Do what YSU did to us last week - play tight man defense on the perimeter. These guys are not that athletic out there.
On offense, MUST come with that 3 back formation more often than we usually do and use all available options off of it. It is the same formation that JC Baker got his TD run on last year. Norvell must also run for ~50 just like he did last year against them to take some pressure off Nikko who might be dinged up a little bit. Mix things up, keep them guessing. Don't force throws, take the sack if you have to. If faced with 3rd and forever deep in own territory, consider a quick kick and hope for a good bounce. The crowd really comes to life on defense in those situations so take some wind out of their sails.
Playoffs start today for us.

WIU 13
