Found this in the company description of projects in River City Construction LLC. Very impressive project portfolio. The CPA is one of the projects listed. Let the fun begin! ;)jc

Performing Arts Center
It is impressive, although the description and rendering they are showing are from earlier plans. I thought I had heard that they were going to cut out one of the theaters and make the main one a bit smaller to save money, but maybe that's changed again. Probably won't know anything for sure until next week.Neckfansince71 wrote: Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:32 am Found this in the company description of projects in River City Construction LLC. Today's Board of Trustees meeting, in Report No. 22.9/9 - Facility Assessment Report has the following listed as a "Current CDB project"
Contractor's website says 1400 seat theatre, so idk.
They can't officially announce it until the governor does, but this is the closest to "official" that can be put out there today. The original plans (http://www.wiu.edu/cofac/cpa/) called for a 130,000 sq. ft building, so this is a bit smaller than that. A few years ago I think the plans were scaled back a bit, removing one of the smaller theaters, and making the main theatre ~900 seats.Center for Performing Arts (818-010-096) $110,289,000
• Construction of 100,000 sq. ft performing arts teaching and performing space
• Pre-construction meeting held 08/23/2022
• Construction duration 30 months

I have mixed feelings after hearing the press release as they released info on how they made up for the extra 20 million in construction cost by stating they pulled the money from a requested future projects funding which is likely the Science center. I find that the performing arts center will be great addition and I respect the arts part of university but felt that the Science Center would effect more student educational opportunities and draw more of the medical and science fields to our school, though I could be wrong.. Waggoner and Currens always seemed very low level for university science facilities. I also felt it tougher to swallow the 20 million lost knowing the PAC is 30000 SF smaller and with a smaller main theater and only 2 theaters instead of 3.
