Yikes. Not good.

Given everything, I expect this job to be filled as cheaply as possible.

Rather disappointed, but not unexpected obviously...given what was going on last week.

It'll be interesting to see what his contract is up there. Apparently South Dakota has a rule where (I think) state employees can only be signed on a 1-year contract. So, he's essentially year-to-year. Could be good for him, in that if he does well and wants out to move up somewhere...could do that any year. But if he doesn't do well, he could be out whenever they want him out.

Coach Nielson, might be MVFC coach of the year. However, I don't see him winning any awards for "a man of good character high ethics and loyalty". So he was outed as leaving for USD....only to deny it then.....he leaves for USD. Classy, Bob.

That was my thought....Randy Ball never had success at the D1 level again...only had like 1 winning season at Missouri State/SWMS.
Western meanwhile, went 41-18 over the next 5 years and made the playoffs 3 times. We've got a good foundation, good players, if we can find the right guy to lead things...we'll still be in business.

According to Ben Marth, he told players on Friday that he would be staying. Now he is leaving.

What a class act, coach.

If this is true, it is very disappointing behavior.

Agree with everybody really disappointed in Bob, I hope he explains why he took a lateral job in the same conference.

Yeah, Ben tweeted at team meeting he told players he turned down offer, now 3 days later taking the job. So maybe he isn't somebody we want as a coach at WIU. I assume most of the assistants will go with him, since most are connected to him one way or another.
