Original trophy Berwagner won was called The Downtown Athletic Club Trophy. Won't ever see a winner at the FCS level, but Steve McNair was close and many felt he should have won. Finished 3rd behind Rashaan SALAMI and Ki-Jana Carter.
No commitment announcement (seems like maybe the coaching staff has told all the recruits to wait until signing day to announce or something)....but by all accounts (tweet activity mostly), it looks like this guy is going to be a Leatherneck...
Daekwon Moultrie
NG (D-line) from Lithonia, GA (Arabia Mountain HS)
6'1", 295 lbs
I highly encourage everyone to go check out this kid's highlight reel here:
Now, he's obviously not going against MVFC-level O-linemen, but the kid is big and really fast. With the guys we lost due to graduation, I think he could come in and at least compete for a starting spot right off the bat.

I would have to imagine that there's something like that going on. I went back and looked at what was going on for signing day last year and there was pretty much a post one day beforehand: http://goleathernecks.com/news/2015/2/3 ... h=footballibleedpurpleandgold wrote:I hope your right about the staff telling guys not to announce there commitment cause it seems like we are getting no recruits.
and then the live updates page with the press conference: http://goleathernecks.com/news/2015/2/3 ... h=football
There wasn't anything quite like what we've seen this year...a post a week beforehand (http://goleathernecks.com/news/2016/1/2 ... 64450.aspx)...press conference (as usual) but also a social event at the Sports Corner afterwards. I can't imagine that they'd go bigger like that if they didn't have a pretty good idea that we'll be fine on the recruiting front.
