Well I am a daily viewer of CPA TV. I know they have been digging holes and filling them with concrete since Thanksgiving. They also closed traffic on University to bring the water mainline into the area. Just looks at times like a large sandbox to me filled with my Tonka Trucks. They have also spent the last couple of days creating a ridge and terracing it with a bulldozer and back hoe. Can anyone out their clarify what is happening for us all? ;)jc
Without seeing it sounds like they are drilling the caissons for foundation. If the dirt is outside the footprint of the building they may be stock piling/sealing black dirt and sloping it for rain/snow so it can stay somewhat dry over the winter/spring.

So take a look at the CPA construction sight.......what’s the point of the large trench that they have been working on constantly for the last couple of days? There is also a concrete pad that was poured yesterday in the foreground? Have not seen the pylon apparatus for awhile but I have hunch that they have been working on the far right. Thoughts! ;)Jc
They're planning a big announcement of some kind next week (6/4) regarding the CPA: https://www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.ph ... e_id=19979
My guess is that they have a partner for naming rights for the building. Any guesses?...high profile donor?...company with a location in Macomb (NTN-Bower)?...the governor?

also never to early to start planning for that very first opening night event. Do you go with the students for a concert/play or do you bring in a professionall draw or both. I will vote for both.
Embrace the pace of the race.
I think you try to go with a fairly well-known concert/singer/artist to kick things off, but things are probably a little tricky scheduling-wise for that. Like, it should be done at some point next summer or fall (2025), but they don't know for sure when the official opening date can be, and I'd bet the "behind the scenes" stuff for booking things in 2025 is already in process.sealhall74 wrote: Wed May 29, 2024 11:15 am also never to early to start planning for that very first opening night event. We did just hire a "Director of the Center for Performing Arts" to get started on whatever she can do at this point.
