Did some research on the new commit and it looks like she has a Leatherneck connection! Schumacher plays at the club that Coach McKay (Western Head Coach 2002-11) is at...also looks like the club has won 5 national championships in McKay's 3 seasons with the club. I hear that Schumacher heavily resourced McKay when making her decision...Once a Leatherneck, Always a Leatherneck!
Always good when you can find local talent, helps bring in fans to games, since likely many of their classmates and friends will end up going to Western, and many family members are fairly local.

Today is the initial NLI signing date for most D1 sports (outside of basketball, football, and a couple others). Some of these names we've heard/seen already, but they're official now:

There is a nice mix of rural kids and suburban kids coming to Macomb! Schumacher and Groves were both all area in the burbs where things are very aggressive to say the least! jc
Just noticed that Sierra Bauder (freshman last year) is transferring to Biola University (in the Los Angeles area) next season. Biola plays in the NAIA and it sounds like they heavily recruited her out of high school. It looks like location (it's much closer to her Phoenix, AZ hometown) and religion (Biola is a non-denominational, evangelical christian school) are her primary reasons.
