I did 9 hour workdays to get every other Friday off for a lot of years working for Uncle Sam in DC. The extra hour of work per day did not bother me. I typically worked a little longer anyway to let the commuter traffic die down abit before heading home (I always took public transportation). Having that one day off to get things done when most other people are working was a joy to behold.
