It's apparently a NCAA rule that in the postseason the band has to be on their team's side. We did that at the OVC tournament too.

I would just think that there could be issues with the student section and the opposing team bench being that close
Ok, but of the two groups, which do you think is louder? I think I've only ever seen our student section as loud as our pep band maybe once or twice in the past nearly 3 decades.

The Orange Krush section at the Illini games is right behind the visiting team's bench.

A bit of a wrap-up of last night's game: https://iowacollegehoops.com/2025/03/21 ... thernecks/

Next game is at Illinois State on Sunday, which should be a much tougher game. Massey currently has ISU winning 77-66: https://masseyratings.com/game.php?gid=1876492
The pep band is likely also traveling to the game.

The highly-energized Pep Band made for an electric atmosphere at Western Hall.

University President Kristi Mindrup brought her trumpet to the game and joined-in with the Pep Band !

In other WNIT action:

Lindenwood beat Tulsa 76-60.  Attendance at Lindenwood = 506.  Lindenwood will play at Tarleton State on Sunday.

I wonder if the atmosphere was a bit intimidating for them. They played in front of some larger crowds on the road this year, but their average home attendance for women's games was 220.
Crowds that were larger were games at Vanderbilt, Chattanooga, Missouri, Florida Gulf Coast, Austin Peay, and North Alabama. Their highest-attended home game was 327 against Evansville.

Yippee.  it worked.  I have been in the spamhaus doghouse since switching my IP service to Metronet.

Is the NCAA picking up the tab for transportation and hotel in Normal.

I loved watching the girls go into the stands and dancing with the band I don’t know if they always do that and I was just now paying attention. The 1st person in the stands was Mia she has really improved through the season. I saw her early in the season and was less than impressed but she has been so good down the stretch and seems to be having so much fun.

That was a lot of fun. They've never come up into the stands with us, but they have come over and cheered/sang with us for the fight song after a big win. Addi Brownfield occasionally runs over to help conduct the fight song too.

I wonder if ISU will have their pep band at their women's game, or if they're taking the band to the men's game. The ISU men are playing in the CBI and their game is the same day at 5:30 PM (Central) against Presbyterian in Daytona Beach, FL. Might also mean fewer fans because a few might travel to Florida for that tournament rather than sticking around for their women's game.
