You guys remember the "Snow Bowl" at Colgate in 2003?
Man, I really felt like that Leatherneck team was going to win it all.

sorry, I know its the ISU thread. That was the year we hung with LSU at Death Valley for 3 quarters. LSU went on to an FBS championship.

Perfect football weather. Great tailgating weather too!
I hope that the ISU football team mirrors their fan base and they come into Macomb over confident and get rolled by our 'Necks.

At the risk of being whiny... I sure wish, and maybe it is out of their hands, that there would be a little consideration for us Chicagoland fans/alums. 2 cases in point: Would have LOVED to not make the drive for Homecoming...those drives are apparently well behind me...but when the one train from Chicago arrives into Macomb at 11:02 and they start the parade at 10:30....well I either am relegated to driving or making the decision to not be able to go. Bump the parade start up an hour and you can then even market some deals to Chicago area fans.
Fast forward to this weekend. Train to Macomb arrives in Macomb at 11:02...ok...but a 6:18 return pretty much screws up a 3pm game time, especially if there are media time outs. So yeah I'm being whiny, cause I cant do overnight but Im just sayin that noon-1pm starts might allow for more fans...just sayin.

There's a couple of things to keep in mind on that front.
If you remember, last year's summer and fall were particularly warm and people were complaining about the heat. I believe that the consensus for dealing with it was to (in general) have the first couple of home games be evening games, the second couple of home games be late afternoon (3 PM start time) games, and the last game or two be 1 PM games. That way the early games, even if it's a hot day, would be when it's starting to cool off, and the late games, since it'd likely be a cold day in November, would be in the warmest part of the day.
Also, a few years back they actually switched the usual Homecoming kickoff time to a bit later in the day. It's been 3 PM the last 4 years. Prior to that, I believe Homecoming was a 1 PM kickoff. 1 PM for the game would work fine for someone taking the train down, but the problem is, because the game was earlier, the parade had to be earlier as well...starting (I think) an hour sooner than it does now. I believe that it used to start downtown at 9:30, so there's no way someone coming down on the train would catch any of the parade (and made it so that the alumni band would have to be up and ready to rehearse at the butt-crack of dawn...which some weren't happy with if they were traveling or wanting to have a fun evening out the night before).
I'm not saying they shouldn't take things like train schedule into consideration...I'd love to see them do more like they did a few years ago where you could buy 1 "ticket" that would get you a train ride down, lunch at the Sports Corner, game ticket, and then train ride back (not sure if there was dinner in there as well). They included bus transportation, so anyone coming from the train station and going to the game would have an easy and direct way to get there, rather than having to figure out which bus to take to campus...
But, there's other things they have to take into account as well.
Also, if "media presence" were to increase...for example, like with a MVFC TV network or something...we may have less of a say in when the games are. I believe that's why it took so long to find out the time of the Northwestern game earlier this year...they were waiting on the B1G Network to figure out when they wanted each game to be played and tell them, so that the games would be mostly staggered and people could just watch live Big 10 football all throughout the day.
