Maybe it's because I'm recall her departure from UW-GB stemmed from the current Head Coach pulling her scholarship when he came on board. Yeah that moment in life could have driven her to be who she is today, but I still don't think I could go back and play for them.

Who knows, maybe there were other issues she had with WIU. Either way, she was one of, if not the best and will be greatly missed. Hope our girls put together a championship season and UW-GB ends their 17 season streak (not likely especially with Luke).
I kinda agree, I thought she was done with basketball and ready to move on with her life, so am kinda disappointed, but I agree w/ Tere, Ashley has been great for the university - on and off the court.

I saw on Facebook last night that Ashley tore her ACL at the end of the 2 quarter in a pre-season game against Minn-Duluth. jc

Wow - that is terrible to her. She could probably get a medical redshirt, but I assume she won't probably just move on to her career

Yea, I'm sure she could if she wanted to...I think the rule has to do with a certain % of games and it usually works out to if you've played like 5 or 6 games or more then you can't, but she hadn't played any non-exhibition games, so she should be "legally" fine to do it. As the article points out though, there's the question of if there'd be a scholarship available for her, as well as what she actually wants to do herself. Does she really want to stick around a whole 'nother year when she's likely actually done (or nearly so) with school...married...probably wanting to get out and start a career or family or life or whatever.

Either way, it really sucks. It sounds like she really wanting to have a fun last year playing basketball and she might not be able to now.

Have been lax in posting this, but John Bohenkamp had a little nugget in one of his column's about Luke at her senior day ceremony. She is trying to get another year from the NCAA, but she made a comment about her only playing 5 minutes for UWGB, but they were the 5 best minutes in her basketball career. Don't know if that was a shot at WIU or just sucking up to the home crowd, either way thought it was interesting.

Even it the appeal had been approved, the Coach had already said there was no room for her on the team.

That doesn't make sense, because the basketball coach and athletic department has to sign off the medical hardship waiver. Had that been the case, a medical hardship waiver would have never made it to the NCAA.
