I am just happy to see us moving forward after sitting in idle for way too long. Looking forward to a nice turnaround season. Hope to see some of you in Madison and Macomb for Homecoming.

LeatherneckNation is tough to please. When you all's mugs start showing up on the thing during the breaks in the action on the field, you will be complaining it is too big.

Embrace the pace of the race.
It's a Daktronics scoreboard. Daktronics has its HQ in Brookings, South Dakota (home of South Dakota State).
Looks like 10 feet in height is the industry standard.

The scoreboard is definitely from Daktronics. Their name appears just below the scoreboard clock (visible in the photos posted here).WIU0812 wrote:The boxes in front of board say Absen which makes me think they must of stayed away from Dakotatronics. Unless they are affiliated?
Perhaps Absen involved with the video board
Meanwhile in Cedar Falls...

Here is the final product minus the wording above the scoreboard. I sure hope that this is part of master plan and they didn't do a full board because they have some big plan in the near future. This thing is tiny compared to last years rental. On a lighter note it is still a big improvement from the past.
I looked up some info on the UNI video board and appears it is 26'x 100' and cost around 1.3 million. Seems a little confusing to me as their board is 8 times larger than the small one we just installed, but less the 3 times more expensive than ours. At a cost of near $500,000 our board seems like it should be much larger? Plus our structure which holds the board was already installed? I seem to have missed something here? Only thing I can think of that is different is the indoor vs. outdoor board.

Had a couple of thoughts today while I was out running past the football stadium and getting a second look at the new scoreboard.
1. It's actually larger than it looks in the posted photo. It's not huge by any means, but it's not tiny. It is smaller than the one we were using last year though.
2. Since it has the ability to be reconfigured (split in half for basketball season), I wonder if that also means that in a year or two, if we've got the $, we could get another section approximately the same size and add it on. Like...keep using the stuff we have, but tack on another section the same size to the bottom next year. I think the way it's set up would give us that option.
