2022 FCS Playoffs
Watched the first quarter of it, but had to go to bed. Turns out a basketball game broke out while I was asleep. You'd figure if you put up 63 points in a football game, you're likely to win, but apparently both of those teams are asking Santa for a defense this year.wiu712 wrote: Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:04 am Attendance at Montana State = 14,367
The #7 Incarnate Word vs #2 Sacramento State is the highest-scoring game in FCS Playoff history. Attendance at Sacramento State = 13,722
Down to the semifinals next weekend, both on ESPN2
Friday, December 16th at 6 PM - #7 Incarnate Word at #3 North Dakota State
Saturday, December 17th at 3 PM - #4 Montana State at #1 South Dakota State

What are you thinking Scott, is it going to be a MVFC final?ST_Lawson wrote: Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:42 pmWatched the first quarter of it, but had to go to bed. If I had to put money on one of the four possible finals matchups, I'd say it would be a "Dakota Marker Game" championship, since both Dakota State's are favored in their games next weekend. That being said, neither are favored by double-digits (per Massey this morning), so they both could go either way.meganeck wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 10:22 amWhat are you thinking Scott, is it going to be a MVFC final?ST_Lawson wrote: Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:42 pmWatched the first quarter of it, but had to go to bed. Looks like the odds for each matchup are the following:
NDSU vs SDSU = 41.4%
NDSU vs MT State = 27.6%
SDSU vs UIW = 18.6%
MT State vs UIW = 12.4%
Sagarin leans a little more towards SDSU winning their game than Massey does, putting the odds of an XDSU championship at ~46.2%.
Because Sac State dropped their game, NDSU also gets their semifinal game at home, which works in the Bison's favor quite a bit.
I'd have to say yeah, a MVFC final is likely.

Yeah, i think being at home will be a big advantage.ST_Lawson wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 8:27 amIf I had to put money on one of the four possible finals matchups, I'd say it would be a "Dakota Marker Game" championship, since both Dakota State's are favored in their games next weekend. Because I was curious, I re-ran the Massey numbers based on if the games were played at the other team's stadium...so NDSU at UIW and SDSU at MT State.
The SDSU at MT State game because essentially a "coin-flip" at 51%/49% odds and the chances of any particular championship game matchup ends up being...
NDSU vs SDSU = 32.1%
NDSU vs MSU = 30.7%
SDSU vs UIW = 18.9%
MSU vs UIW = 18.1%
So, still slightly better chance of NDSU vs SDSU than anything else, but much tighter odds.
