Agreed, having Nikko back made a big difference in the running game. Norvell actually looked pretty good. However, as noted, special teams is horrid. Please, let's learn to cover punt and kickoff returns.

That is the quickest team (by far) we will face this year. While our kick coverage left a lot to be desired, those guys from CCU could fly, everyone last one of them. Coach Nielson came with the game plan that I was expecting except for one thing. I was thinking Norvell would run a little more as he did against NDSU and ISUr last year. Somebody's going to have to do it. No way Nikko can do what he did tonight every night.

Special Teams, Special Teams, Special Team. This will be the death of me. If we won the Special Teams game we would have won the game. Blocked FG, WHY lets fix this. Snap, Hold, Kick, Block, WHAT. We changed punters Why? 35-36 yard average is D3 level not D1.
Glad we finally found our offense. Looks like Nikko might have been that missing piece (or part of it, at least).
Would have liked to have come away with the win, but I feel better heading into conference play.
Norvell had 370 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTS, for a QB rating of 143.08
Watson, in his first game since 2013 rushes for 156 yards and 2 TDs
Lenoir and Borsellino both have 110+ yard receiving games, with Borsellino getting a TD
Defense again did pretty well considering what they were given...short fields in many cases.
Special Teams....bleh. Blocked kicks, bad coverage....idk.
We've got a week off now to rest up and get ready for the first home in a month (exactly a month...September 3rd to October 3rd), at Homecoming against a very beatable SIU team.

I worry less about the blocked FG, and actually not so much about the short punts, than I do about our absolute inability to cover punt and kickoff returns.
Write-up about the game from the Myrtle Beach newspaper:

It was a great game to watch in-person. Lots of ebb and flow. Heard their broadcast was not very good which is kind of sad for and FBS to be. They also have a big problem getting everyone from the many parking lots, tailgating areas around the campus to the stadium via shuttles, etc. The stadium looked about half empty at kickoff but there were not too many empty seats by the time everyone got there.
Yet another game against a solid FCS team that we should have won. Damn, I have to work on my avatar once again.
