*sigh* Mizzorah......good post. I think Northwest Mo St. could compete in the MVFC....good program. Yes Nielson was probably building his resume...as Minn Duluth Facilities while smaller are suprerior to D-I Western. I feel sad.

Facilities in many of Illinois's surrounding states can be payed for from state funds and grants. Tim VanAlstine tried like crazy to talk the administration ala Goldfarb to ante up for the west side only to be waved off a number of times. Tim got a number of facilities upgraded with his "campaign" whose name escapes me such as new lights, track, baseball stadium, locker rooms, etc. he did a heck of a lot more than his predecessor who did pretty much nothing as far as fund raising and facility upgrades and missed the chance to get the Necks into the MVC. Tanney gets facilities and he gets D1 athletics.
As far as Biller's involvement, he over sees athletics and is Tanney's boss. He has every right to be involved in this process. Biller at the podium is basically the president at the podium! It's obvious that this is an important event for WIU!

Hadn't thought of it, but the idea noted of Hecklinski would be great!
Bearcat Stadium at Northwest Missouri State:Mizzou Rah wrote:I am an alum of NWMSU in Maryville Missouri. My sister in law is still a teacher there. Went to the semi final game there this past Saturday. Facility is gorgeous. 6 luxury boxes. Press box with multiple levels. Home and away bleachers packed with rabid Bearcat fans, not just parents but many people from area who realize that paying $100 to go to a pro game and $30 to park is not a good economic choice.

Yea, Bearcat Stadium isn't huge (seats 6500), but it is VERY nice:

That is pretty nice for DII. Got me thinking. Just wonder if anyone has a sports complex (football field (big enough for soccer and track as well) along with baseball and softball fields) that shares a common suite and pressbox structure sort of like that one. In my head it seems doable. Might have to scratch out a design on paper and start buying more lottery tickets.

Do you mean like...football field on one side, baseball diamond on the other side, with the same pressbox between the two? I don't think I've ever seen that anywhere personally, but I know that Jacksonville State's football stadium's home side/pressbox/suites structure actually has dorm rooms in it as well....so, kinda a shared building there.sealhall74 wrote:That is pretty nice for DII. Here it is from outside the stadium:In 2010, an expansion project including additional seating to the south stands and east endzone and the seven-story Stadium Tower (floors 1-4 function as a residence hall for students, while floors 5-7 house skyboxes and the press box) was completed, increasing the seating capacity to 24,000.

And here's from inside the stadium:

I have been reading this forum all year and enjoy all the information. Thought i would join and give my 2 cents. I hope they bring in someone new with staff that remains. I hope they do not give the job to Blazek. I am a family member of a starter on team and have been told he doesnt have a very positive attitude with some players. I know a player that already is talking transfer if he gets job!!

Thanks for the insight. Most of us have very little in the way of "inside information" in terms of how the coaches interact with the players.
Do you think that the players would still have a problem if it was someone else internally promoted to HC, but Blazek was still there? Like, just for example, if they promoted Steve Crutchley to HC and Blazek still ran the O-line and stuff?
I don't really have any particular attachment to this staff...I know that they did some things well, but there seemed to be plenty of "deficiencies". My biggest worry is recruiting, since we're entering into a month-long recruiting dead period now, so if they brought in a whole new staff, they might have to do a lot of "starting over" with recruits the last couple of weeks of January going into signing day on February 3rd.

I think if you do bring in someone from outside, you have to give him the latitude to bring in his own guys (at least OC and DC). I did not like the idea of leaving Brian Ward around for DC when Nielson got here. That seemed like a disaster to me, at least in the secondary. Maybe line and linebackers it worked out OK.
