IPFW has done a rebranding of their athletics logo/name. The school itself is still IPFW, but in athletics, they'll generally be referred to as Fort Wayne. More info: http://gomastodons.com/news/2016/8/5/GEN_080816.aspx
They have also updated their athletics logo to look like this:
For comparison, here's the old one:

Haven't these guys been referred to as "Fort Wayne" on the Summit League site for a year or two now. Talk about the cart leading the horse.
Embrace the pace of the race.
Yes, but that was more of an informal guideline that the conference was following for the large city-based schools....Denver, Omaha, Fort Wayne.
This is an official rebranding complete with updated logo.

Is IUPUI planning to go with "Indianapolis" or do they already do that (pardon my ignorance)?

There is already a University of Indianapolis (they play DII).
You are a smart one you are, bumping my thread that lumps NIU with some unflattering company I guess I'm not too bright I took the bait.

I could just go and make that other one "sticky" for a while
But yea, they go by U Indy quite often: http://www.uindy.edu/ but it is the university of Indianapolis, so having IUPUI go by Indianapolis would be kinda confusing. Although I don't see why they don't see about changing their name, or at least "nickname" to be IPI (Indiana/Purdue/Indianapolis). IPI would be much easier to say and make work in logos I'd think than IUPUI.

Exactly. That's what I was going to suggest if they didn't want to or "couldn't" change it to Indianapolis.ST_Lawson wrote:I could just go and make that other one "sticky" for a while

I get that "IPI" somewhat looks like a military institution acronym but it's a significant improvement from IUIPIUIUI.
No offense, but what's that little private D-2 school going to do if IUPUI wanted to re-brand as Indianapolis? They may not even care because, as has been pointed out, they seem to go by "UIndy Greyhounds" anyway, so there isn't necessarily a direct conflict there.
Time to resurrect this because IPFW has now dropped the "I" and is just Purdue Fort Wayne: http://www.gomastodons.com/news/2018/6/ ... eased.aspx
