This change will take place one year from now: after the Spring 2020 semester.

Nearly 80% of their 1,100 undergraduate students are their athletes.

Most of the teams will compete in the next year (2019-2020) except swimming & diving and men’s ice hockey which were disbanded.

Belleville officials say they were blindsided by Lindenwood’s decision to move programs.

Another Illinois college will be closing: Robert Morris University in Springfield.

They play NAIA athletics.

In March 2018, the school announced it was eliminating men’s basketball, men’s soccer, and volleyball at its Springfield campus. It continued to field teams in baseball, softball, and women’s basketball.

Those student athletes will have reserved spots on RMU teams in Chicago and Peoria.
