To echo Tere on this, take a look at their schedule: https://www.gocsucougars.com/sports/wom ... edule/2023
They're currently 10-5 against all DI competition. Many of their other sports might be "dumpster fires", but volleyball is not one of them.

Looks like they are hell-bent on starting up a FCS football team as well.  Being independent, they have put together a nice schedule in VB and hoops this year.  My guess is they will be in OVC in a couple years or so.  Already associates in golf starting this year.

Nice. Volleyball is 4-11 overall this season so far, 3-2 in the OVC. Last year we finished 4-26 overall and 0-18 in the conference, so while 4-11 is not great, it's already equaled our win total from last year with the majority of our conference portion of the season still to go.

Also, UALR was having dinner at Los Charros (west) tonight...saw their bus there when we were heading home from the Macomb football game.

When's the last time we were in the upper half of the conference in any sport? But here we are....and in Volleyball!
The last time we had a .500+ conference record in a season in volleyball was 16 years ago. Still plenty of matches to play, but it sure looks like this OVC thing is working out, at least on the volleyball court. I know that some may say that we're doing it against weaker competition, but you know what...we're winning matches and we're spending less money on travel...and I think those are the two most important things at this level. It's not like the Summit League gets more teams in the NCAA tournament every year. Last year the SL sent their champion (South Dakota) and so did the OVC (TN State).

They play UT Martin again today at 2 PM (at UT Martin).

Already at 5 conference wins which hadn’t happened since my senior year in 2013. Last year we finished 5 out of 10 in men’s basketball
