3/24 at 2:30 PM - Fairfield vs Little Rock - Fairfield won 82-75
3/24 at 4:30 PM - Quinnipac vs Evansville - Evansville won 64-63
I was a bit surprised that 12-18 Chicago State got invited, but since they are independent, their schedule is a bit "wonky". They beat Stetson (who is in the NCAA tournament) twice, beat then #25 Northwestern, they also lost to teams like Wisconsin, DePaul, K-State, OK State, and UTEP. Still, Massey lists them as the #305 team in DI currently (WIU is at #257).

NCAA Division II
Men are down to the "elite eight": #1 Minnesota State vs #8 Ferris State (MI), #4 West Texas A&M vs #5 North Georgia, #2 Nova Southeastern vs #7 Southern New Hampshire, and #3 Gannon (PA) vs #6 Cal State San Bernadino. All games are on 3/26. Minnesota State's HC is Matt Margenthaler...Macomb Native, WIU Alumni, and son of former Leatherneck HC Jack Margenthaler.
Women are also in their "elite eight": #1 Gannon (PA) vs #8 Cal State San Marcos, #4 Georgia Southwestern vs #5 Minnesota State, #2 Texas Woman's University vs #7 Daemen (NY), and #3 Ferris State vs #6 Tampa. All games are on 3/25.

NCAA Division III
Both men and women finished up last weekend. On the men's side, Trine University (IN) beat Hampden-Sidney (VA) 69-61. On the women's side, NYU beat Smith (MA) 51-41. Closest team in our area of the country on the women's side was Wartburg (IA) who lost to Smith 61-54 in the semifinals.

Congrats to Greg Kampe and Oakland.  40 years at the helm.  How could you ever root against this guy?  Even Coach Mo loved him.

Embrace the pace of the race.

I've mostly just been updating them in the first post, but I thought it worth mentioning that in the women's NIT former Summit League team Fort Wayne steamrolled Cincinnati on the Bearcats home court, 84-58.

How did MSU get there?  There is excitement at all levels of basketball when the chance to dance again is on the line.  Where he made that last second shot is exactly where I remember Joe Dykstra missing a crucial late game shot aginst Northern Michigan in the D2 Regional Final in Western Hall back in 1981 although it was not a last second shot for the win like this one.  It was a totally jam-packed Western Hall that night.  So loud.  So much tension in the building.  You dont forget those things.

Minnesota State won handily against Ferris St advancing to D2 Final Four.  Southern New Hampshire was
eliminated.  Of note for SNH, former Leatherneck big Cody Collinsworth played for SNH this year although did not put up big numbers for them.
