USD took down FGCU in the championship of the WNIT. Great postseason by the summit league.
Florida Gulf Coast rallied from a 41-29 deficit late in the third quarter to close within 53-51 with 5:11 remaining, but fell 71-65 at South Dakota in the WNIT final.
FGCU finishes the season 33-6, one win short of matching the all-time program record. South Dakota improved to 32-6.
FGCU was 12-0 on the road this season going into the championship game.
South Dakota was 16-1 in the Dakota Dome going into the championship game and has lost just one home game the past two seasons.
This was South Dakota's final game in the Dakota Dome before the opening next season of a new basketball and volleyball facility.
Attendance at South Dakota = 7,415.

Great season for those girls. Great for the Summit League.
SDSU had a great showing in the regular tourney, but to bad USD didn't make it as they could have done a little more damage. USD had a halftime lead over final 4 team Washington.
Not that they or anyone else will beat UCONN.
